Tottenham ‘ready to go’ for 23-year-old, €35m-rated target is ‘the chosen one’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Torino defender Perr Schuurs.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League after impressing in Italy over the past year.

According to journalist Giacomo Morandin, Spurs are ‘ready to go’ the distance to land the Dutchman. A fee of around €35 million could be enough to sign the player. However, Tottenham are looking to get rid of Eric Dier first.

The two clubs are yet to enter into negotiations right now but the 23-year-old defender is reportedly ‘the chosen one’ for Spurs.

It is no secret that Tottenham are pursuing central defenders, given the fact that players like Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez could leave the club by the end of the day.

The North London outfit have already signed Ashley Phillips and Micky van de Ven. However, they need to add more depth to the side.

Spurs were quite vulnerable defensively last season, conceding 63 goals in the league. The defence is an area that is in need of improvement if Tottenham want to challenge for trophies the season and get back into the Champions League.

Schuurs has proven himself to be a quality defender in the Italian league and he has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive in England as well.

Apart from his qualities as a defender, the 23-year-old is exceptional with the ball at his feet and his distribution skills will add a new dimension to the Tottenham play. Ange Postecoglou prefers free-flowing attacking football and the Dutchman could help his side build from the back.
