Tottenham Hotspur have not been able to get the best out of Spanish winger Bryan Gil and they have decided to sell him in the summer.
A report from Vamos Mi Sevilla claims that Tottenham consider their ‘investment lost’ and they are ‘willing’ to sell him for a knockdown price of just £5 million.
Sevilla are keen on bringing him back to the club and it will be interesting to see if the clubs can work out a deal in the summer. Gil is clearly not a key part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans at the North London club and he needs to leave in order to get his career back on track. He has started just two games in the league for Tottenham him this season.
The 23-year-old was regarded as one of the finest young attacking talents in Spanish football when he joined Tottenham, but his development has not gone according to plan. He has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot and his performances have been quite mediocre.
Bryan Gil needs regular opportunities
A return to his homeland would be ideal for him. He has previously impressed with Sevilla and a move back to the Spanish club could help him get back to his best once again. Gil is still quite young and he has plenty of time to get his career back on track with regular football. A move to Sevilla could help him fulfil his tremendous potential.
Selling him for £5 million would represent a major loss for Tottenham, but they are unlikely to recoup a premium for him. Perhaps it is the right time for them to cut their losses and move on. The North London outfit paid £21.6 million for the winger with Erik Lamela a part of the deal as well.
