Tottenham pushing to hijack move for midfield prodigy with promise of first-team role

By Saikat -

Tottenham are keen on the Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall.

A report from Football Insider claims that they are looking to hijack his move to Barcelona before the January transfer window closes. The Spanish giants are looking to complete a deal worth around £8.5 million to sign the player and Bergvall’s club Djurgardens have already permitted him to hold a meeting with the Spanish club.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can sign the 17-year-old midfielder, who is highly rated in European football. The north London outfit certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done.

Meanwhile, a report from Mundo Deportivo claims that Tottenham are pushing to sign him this month and they have already promised him a first-team role.

Barcelona might not be able to give him first-team assurances given the quality at their disposal and it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.

The January transfer window closes later today and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can pull off a deadline day signing.

The Swedish midfielder has a big future ahead of him and the opportunity to join a big club will be a tempting proposition for him. Regular first-team action in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his tremendous potential.

Both Tottenham and Barcelona will be exciting opportunities for the player and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
