Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

According to a report from Sport Italia, the move is now “entering its operational phase” and Milan are prepared to let the player leave.

Tottenham have reportedly submitted a verbal offer exceeding €25 million for the player. Tomori is yet to give the green light to the move and Tottenham remain in contact with Milan regarding the transfer.

It will be interesting to see if they can wrap up the move before the January window closes. Tomori has struggled for regular game time at the Italian club this season and he could use a fresh start.

Meanwhile, the report adds that Tottenham are “pushing” to get the deal done and it will be interesting to see if they can bring the former Chelsea player back to England. The opportunity to play in the Premier League can be quite exciting for him.

It is no surprise that Tottenham are keen on the England international. They need to add more quality and depth to their central defensive unit and the 27-year-old could prove to be the ideal acquisition. He has shown his quality in Italian football and he has the attributes to succeed in England as well. The defender might feel that he has unfinished business in the Premier League and he will look to prove his worth at Tottenham if the move goes through.

Signing him for a fee of around €25 million could prove to be a bargain in the long term.

Tottenham are currently 15th in the league table and they need to improve their squad in order to bounce back strongly. They need quality players so that they can finish high up the table. Tomori will certainly help them tighten up at the back.
