Tottenham ‘preparing a late move’ to sign rival ace, would need £50m to get deal done

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea this summer.

A report from Daily Mail claims that the North London outfit are ‘preparing a late move’ to sign the 23-year-old central midfielder.

Meanwhile, a report from the Telegraph adds that the midfielder is valued at £50 million and it will be interesting to see if Spurs can pay that kind of money for him.

It is no secret that Spurs will need to bring in midfield reinforcements and Gallagher would be a quality long-term addition. He might struggle to get regular game time at Chelsea and a move to Tottenham could be ideal for his development.

He is likely to get ample game time at the north London club, especially if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves the club. The Danish international has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid before the summer transfer window closes.

The 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder will add drive, work rate and defensive cover to the Tottenham midfield if he joins the club. Although the £50 million asking price seems like a premium, the player might end up justifying the investment in the long run.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can convince their London rivals to sell the player before the window closes.

Chelsea have brought in a couple of midfield signings recently and they might be open to letting Gallagher leave for the right price.
