Tottenham prepared to complete ‘steal’ deal for 28-year-old who ‘fits the bill’

Tottenham Hotspur signed Timo Werner on a loan deal from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window.

They have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for a fee of around £15 million. A report from Football Insider claims that Tottenham chiefs and the manager are keen on bringing in younger players during the summer transfer window, but they are aware that they need experience in the side as well.

They are prepared to complete a permanent move for the German international in the summer if they manage to secure Champions League qualification. The report states that the club hierarchy feels that Werner ‘fits the bill’ and that the reported asking price would be a ‘steal’ for him.

The 28-year-old has managed to settle in quickly at his new club and he has done reasonably well for Tottenham. He could prove to be a valuable squad member for the North London club going forward.

He is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three and he will chip in with goals and creativity. Spurs need more depth in the squad if they want to do well in the Premier League and the Champions League next season. Holding on to experienced players like Werner could prove to be a wise decision.

The reported asking price is a major bargain as well. Werner should be able to justify the £15 million investment easily. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.
