Tottenham plotting early summer bid for Premier League star; Ange ‘likes him a lot’

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham are already plotting targets for the summer transfer window, eyeing a number of players in multiple positions.

One of the players that Spurs are particularly interested in is Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who remains a top priority for the club.

And according to a report from 90min, Tottenham could potentially make an early bid for the Englishman in the upcoming transfer window.

The report claims that Chelsea could even lower their asking price in the summer and come down to around £50m if Gallagher does not sign a new contract by then.

With less than eighteen months left on his contract and no sign of an extension, Gallagher’s departure from Stamford Bridge appears increasingly likely.

In January, reports suggested that the West Londoners valued the Cobham academy graduate at £60 million. However, Tottenham did not make any formal approach at that time.

Spurs have pursued Gallagher since last summer, even attempting a deadline day bid in September, albeit unsuccessfully. Manager Ange Postecoglou ‘likes him a lot‘ and has played a pivotal role in the club’s pursuit.

The 24-year-old has been a regular starter under Mauricio Pochettino, featuring in all 23 Premier League games available this season and contributing with two goals and four assists.

It would be intriguing to see if the Lilywhites can lure their London rivals’ current captain to join them on the capital’s north side.
