Tottenham players want ‘top manager’ to replace Antonio Conte

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of managers in recent months.

The North London club are hoping to bring in a quality replacement for Antonio Conte, who was sacked following his public outburst earlier this season.

Tottenham are currently fighting for a place in the Champions League next season and it remains to be seen whether interim manager Cristian Stellini can guide the side to a top-four finish.

While the Premier League club have been linked with a number of managers, the players are reportedly keen for Daniel Levy to appoint Mauricio Pochettino as the club’s next manager as per Daily Mail.

The 51-year-old Argentine is currently out of a job since leaving Paris Saint-Germain, and he has been linked with a return to his former club for months now.

Pochettino did an excellent job at Tottenham before he was relieved of his duties and he will feel that he has unfinished business at the club. He helped Tottenham challenge for the league title and the Champions League during his time at the London club.

The 51-year-old knows the club well, and he has worked with a number of first-team players at Tottenham during the formative years of their careers. Furthermore, he shares a strong bond with Daniel Levy and is familiar with the resources at his disposal.

There is no doubt that Pochettino could be a superb choice to replace Conte next season.

With the players lobbying for his return, it remains to be seen whether the club hierarchy are prepared to give in and bring him back.

Pochettino’s pedigree is beyond doubt and he has proven himself in English football already. He was branded as a ‘top manager’ by Pep Guardiola during his time in England.
