Tottenham plan January swoop for Bundesliga man

By Bruce Grove -

Wout Weghorst was one of the strikers that Tottenham wanted to sign in the last transfer window and a report from SportBild via Sport Witness says that the Lilywhites are still interested.

Tottenham settled for Carlos Vinicius just before the last transfer window closed, but the Brazilian has been used sparingly by the club this season.

Weghorst, on the other hand, remained at Wolfsburg and he has continued to bang in the goals for them.

He has 9 goals and 1 assist in 11 Bundesliga games this season and Spurs apparently still think he can be the perfect backup striker to Harry Kane.

The attacker didn’t leave Wolfsburg in the summer, but he has an agreement with the club that he would be allowed to leave them when an offer in the region of €35-40m is received, according to the report.

This agreement doesn’t have to kick-in when the next summer transfer window reopens, opening the door for Tottenham to make their move for him next month.

Kane has stayed fit and he has fired Tottenham to the cusp of winning a trophy this season.

However, he has suffered from injuries and has rarely finished any of the last few seasons for that reason.

If he breaks down in the title run-in Spurs may need someone like Weghorst to help them with the goals.
