Premier League boss suddenly favourite to replace under siege Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham play Hoffenheim in tonight’s Europa League game, which kicks off at 1745 hours. The pressure on Big Ange is palpable, and the press conference ahead of the must-win match was unsurprisingly focused on injuries.

The Australian has overseen an eye-watering number of crocked stars in his second season, and it’s no shock that Premier League form has suffered, and the club is currently moping about in 15th, just 8 points off the drop zone. Whether Ange is responsible in any way for the packed physio room is incredibly difficult to prove, and has certainly split fan opinion.

The Sun is running this morning with the suggestion, as of last night, that the current standout candidate to replace the gaffer, who went 1/2 on to be sacked this week, is Bournemouth’s eye-catching boss, ANDONI IRAOLA. The outlet boasts:

The 42-year-old is perhaps in contention for manager of the season with the Cherries flying, playing wonderful football and now genuine contenders for European football following their masterclass at St James’ Park at the weekend.

For me, there are obvious concerns to be addressed, but is there a case for Postecoglou being given the right tools for the job and a fair opportunity to recapture some of the excellent form he showed last season? Or was that simply a new manager bounce?

The Spurs board have some serious soul-searching to do because sacking managers isn’t what truly builds a club.

COYS.
