Tottenham man told he is ‘free to leave’ but only on one condition

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to the latest report from Football Insider, Tottenham have informed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg that he is ‘free to leave’ in the upcoming transfer window on one condition.

The Danish midfielder is being linked with a move away since the summer having fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou.

Ange has preferred Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr as the starting duo in the midfield and despite Hojbjerg being a reliable presence, his defensive style of play does not align with Ange’s tactics.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a number of top clubs including Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli.

A depleted Spurs squad is in need for bolstering of many positions including the midfield. Specially since they will be without Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma in January, and Bentancur and Maddison are not expected back until later next month.

The report from Football Insider claims that the club is now willing to let Hojbjerg leave but only if they can find a replacement for him first.

There is interest from a number of Serie A sides for the former Southampton man but any move would depend on whether Spurs can sign a new midfielder in January first.

One player being strongly linked with Spurs is Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher who they wanted to sign in the summer as well but the Blues decided against sell him then.

Reports have emerged claiming that they are still interested in the England midfielder and Chelsea makes him available for sale, Spurs will make an offer for him.
