Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been linked with a move away from the club owing to the lack of playing time.
The 27-year-old is no longer a key starter for the Premier League champions and he needs to move on in search of regular first-team action. He was a key player for Leeds United before his move to Manchester City and he will want to return to that level once again.
The midfielder will want to establish himself as a key player for club and country, especially with the European championships coming up at the end of the season. Apparently, several Premier League clubs are prepared to provide him with an exit route in January.
A report from 90 Min claims that Tottenham Hotspur have made enquiries regarding the 27-year-old midfielder recently. However, the player prefers a move to Newcastle United. The Magpies are keen on signing him as well.
Phillips could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham and he would be the ideal replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The midfielder played in an attacking system under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United, and he would be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system at the north London club.
In addition to that, his arrival would allow the Tottenham manager to rotate players like Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as well. It will be interesting to see if Spurs can convince the player to join them in January.
