Tottenham looking to sign bargain-basement midfielder that Zidane is a big fan of

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has been linked with a move for Olympique Marseille midfielder, Maxime Lopez ahead of the next transfer window, reports Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo.

The Frenchman came through the ranks at the French side, and he broke into their first team in 2016.

However, he has struggled to impress Andre Villas-Boas this season and the Portuguese manager has reduced him to bit-part roles at the club.

He has been one of the French midfielders to keep an eye on before this season, and his performances have attracted praise from Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

He will have just a season left on his current deal and look set for a new challenge, which could be with Jose Mourinho’s side.

Estadio Deportivo claims that Mourinho is also a fan of the midfielder and with the coronavirus set to curtail teams’ spending this summer, the fact that he could move for less than £10 million makes him even more attractive.

Spurs have struggled this year and there is a good chance that they might end this season outside the European places, however, Mourinho is determined to turn Spurs into title challengers once again and the signing of Lopez could be a huge asset in that quest.
