Tottenham looking to hijack German giants move for £25 million hit-man

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham is reportedly interested in signing Patrik Schick as AS Roma and RB Leipzig continue to struggle to reach an agreement over his permanent transfer.

The Czech Republic striker has been on loan at Leipzig this season and has been in fine form for the Germans.

He even starred for the team as they knocked Tottenham out of the Champions League before the competition was suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, the Germans have told Roma to give them a new cut-price deal before they sign the striker permanently, reports Laroma24.

This has opened up the door for another team to pounce and sign him and Tottenham look set to take advantage of that.

The Lilywhites have been long-term admirers of Schick, and they considered making a move for him in 2017.

With Harry Kane, the only recognisable striker in Jose Mourinho’s team, signing a new striker seems to be high on the club’s to-do list.

The report from LaRoma24 reckons that Roma wants £25 million for the striker, but Leipzig doesn’t want to pay that much to sign him despite his return being an impressive seven goals and two assists in 10 league starts.

Mourinho knows he has to spend some money if Tottenham is to compete for the top four next season and you have to think that he will feel the asking price being asked by Roma is reasonable enough for a player of Schick’s quality.

When he’s had a bad game the tabloids would headline ‘Dog Shick’ and when he defends well, ‘Shick to a blanket’ and when he goes on strike ‘What a Shick House’.

Just a correction there Bruce, you say Mourinho wants some spending to compete for the top four next season, I think Mourinho said he would have Tottenham competing for the Premier League title next season.
