Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with a move for the Porto striker Samu Aghehowa.

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the finest young attacking talents in European Football, and top clubs are keeping tabs on him. Spurs could use another quality striker, especially with the way Dominic Solanke has performed. The Spanish goal scorer could prove to be the ideal long-term investment for them.

He scored 27 goals across all competitions last season, and he has established himself as a key player for the Portuguese club. He impressed with the Spanish national team during the Olympics in 2024 as well.

There is no doubt that he has the physicality and technical attributes to thrive at the highest level, and the move to the Premier League could be ideal for him. However, he has a £86 million release clause in his contract, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are prepared to pay up.

Can Tottenham sign Samu Aghehowa?

Pete O’Rourke claimed on Football Insider: “So I think he’s a top young player, 21 years old, Spain international. It’s no surprise that Tottenham and all these other big clubs in the Premier League are looking at him.

“He’s a player with huge potential and could really develop into one of the best strikers in Europe, if he continues his rise. I think that’s why these Premier League clubs are looking at him.

“He has got a release clause in his contract at Porto of around £86million, which is a big price tag on his head.”

Tottenham need to improve their attacking unit if they want to win major trophies. Signing a reliable striker could make a big difference. The physically gifted 21-year-old could be the ideal fit for Tottenham in theory, and it remains to be seen whether they can bring him to England in the coming months.
