Tottenham could look at Juventus star Weston McKennie to reinforce their midfield before the start of the 2024/25 season.
The North London club might have added Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall to their squad but they still need more quality in the centre of the park. Both the teenagers will surely be of great help to Ange Postecoglou but neither of them is expected to be a regular starter.
Tottenham need a more experienced campaigner and according to a report from the Express, Spurs are interested in the services of Weston McKennie.
The American international joined Juventus back in the summer of 2020. He has had multiple loan spells away from the club and has experienced Premier League football with Leeds United during the second half of the 2022/23 season. He could return to England as Spurs are keeping a close eye on his situation at the Turin-based club.
While he did have an important role in the Italian club’s first team last season, he did come close to an exit earlier in the transfer window. The 25-year-old could have joined Aston Villa in a deal that saw Douglas Luiz move the other way. He might not have secured a move to the Premier League back then but there is still time for him to return to England.
With his contract running out in 2025, the Old Lady are unlikely to stand in his way. Tottenham are long-term admirers of McKennie and they have been following him since the 2022 World Cup. They feel he could be an ideal replacement for Pierre Emile Hojbjerg who has recently parted ways with the North London club. With his contract running out, Spurs could surely look to secure his services in a bargain deal.
