Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.
The 51-year-old Argentine manager is currently without a job and he could be the ideal replacement for Antonio Conte at the end of the season.
The 53-year-old Italian manager will be a free agent in the summer and Tottenham are expected to part ways with him. According to Tottenham’s former head of talent identification and player development David Webb, the Argentine manager is open to a return to the north London club in the summer.
Pochettino will feel that he has unfinished business at the Premier League club and he could look to try and guide them to a trophy in the coming seasons.
Webb has further added that Pochettino was a big fan of the Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha while he was managing Tottenham. The former Tottenham official added that the 30-year-old winger has great attributes for the Premier League and it will be interesting to see if Pochettino decides to make a move for him at the end of the season.
He said to the Sun: “I know Poch was a big fan of his. I still think he’s attractive for a couple of years because he’s still got great attributes for the Premier League.”
“I think Spurs will change coach,” David Webb told The Sun. Webb, who earlier worked as a scout at Pochettino’s Southampton, was at Spurs when they signed the likes of Son Heung-min and Toby Alderweireld.
“I don’t know the ins-and-outs of how fractured Poch’s relationship is with Daniel [Levy, Spurs’ chairman]. And I don’t think that Poch wants to pigeon-hole himself solely to the Premier League.
“If a good offer were to come up in Spain or Germany, he’d be open to that, too. But the Premier League will always be his first choice. He was phenomenal at Tottenham — and would be open to it again.”
Zaha will be a free agent in the summer and he could prove to be a quality acquisition at a bargain.
The 30-year-old has been linked with a move away from Crystal Palace in recent seasons and the £130k-a-week star will feel that this is his opportunity to join a big club.
Tottenham would certainly be an attractive destination for him and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
