Tottenham likely to beat Arsenal to free agent and confirm transfer next week

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham have beaten Arsenal to the signature of Ryan Fraser, claims a report from Spain.

Fraser is set to become a free agent in the summer and Tottenham have been battling with Arsenal to sign him for free.

Reports yesterday linked him with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray who might offer him a chance to play Champions League football.

However, Spanish media outlet TodoFichajes claims that Jose Mourinho’s side has beaten other suitors to his signature.

The report claims that the Lilywhites have reached an agreement with the Scotsman to become a part of their team for the 2020/2021 season onwards, but the details of the deal haven’t been revealed yet.

It went on to claim that Tottenham could announce his capture as soon as next week.

With teams struggling to spend too much money on players because of the coronavirus pandemic, Spurs will probably look to bring in several free agents and players that they can get on swap deals, and Fraser is just a first of many if this report is true.

Fraser hasn’t had the best of seasons this campaign, but he had his best season for Bournemouth last season when he set up a number of goals and scored some himself to attract the attention of the likes of Spurs and Arsenal.

He might be more than a squad player, some pundits say he can’t cross the ball, but the year before last he was second only to Eden Hazard in assists and he had great chances created figures. He can pass too and can run all day. Last season wasn’t as good, but that happens sometimes, Bournemouth didn’t have a great year either and being linked to top six teams maybe distracted him.

He’s a decent player, with a good cross on him, but what purpose does he serve for us? Speedy left sided winger? Bergwyn, Sessenon, Son, all in the mix for that spot. Squad player at best, but I guess the price is right.
