Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Chelsea full-back Renato Veiga, at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old can operate as a left-back as well as a winger. He could prove to be a useful player for Tottenham if they can get the deal done. The player is currently on loan at Italian club Juventus, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can secure his signature.

It is evident that he is not a key player for Chelsea, and a report from Football Insider claims that Chelsea are prepared to let the player go for a fee of around £30 million. The Blues are looking to make a “quick profit” on the Portuguese International.

Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. The report claims that Chelsea might not be too keen on dealing with the direct rival. That could be a major blow for the north London outfit. It remains to be seen whether they can convince Chelsea to sell the player to them.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old will be hoping to play regularly, and he could be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham if they can provide him with the gametime assurances. They have an exciting project and a talented squad. Despite their struggles this season, Spurs could bounce back strongly next year and fight for trophies.

They need to add more depth to the left-back department, and the Portuguese defender could compete with Destiny Udogie for the starting spot. The competition for places will help both players improve.

Veiga is still quite young, and he could easily justify the investment in the long-term if he manages to adapt at Tottenham quickly.
