Tottenham will have to fork out over £40 million to acquire the services of Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White.
The North London club might have missed out on Champions League football for next season but it has been an impressive debut season for Ange Postecoglou.
The former Celtic boss has got them playing an attacking and attractive brand of football and he is looking for ways to further bolster his squad as they prepare to make a return to European football.
Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White has put himself on the radar of Tottenham on the back of his impressive performances in the 2023/24 season and they are looking to sign him ahead of next season.
Transfer expert Pete O’Rourke believes Spurs will have to offer over £40 million to land the attacking midfielder at the club.
While speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, O’Rourke said: “I think for Morgan Gibbs-White, Forest will be looking at £40million-plus.
“They have both had good seasons and enhanced their reputations – that’s what they’ve done at Nottingham Forest.
“So, I think in the going market you’re looking at £40million-plus as a reasonable fee for Gibbs-White.“
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the mainstays at Nottingham following his move from Wolves in 2022. He had an exceptional 2023/24 season where he contributed towards 16 goals (6 goals, 10 assists).
His consistent performances and his ability to feature in multiple positions are major reasons why Spurs want to have him at their disposal.
He could bolster the North London club’s attack significantly but they will have to fork out a significant fee to prise him away from the Tricky Trees. With three years still left on his deal, they will consider £40 million a reasonable price for the attacking midfielder.
Nottingham are not in the best of financial situation, they are on the verge of another breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
They are in desperate need of raising funds and the departure of Gibbs-White could surely help their cause. Meanwhile, with the financial pressure building on the Tricky Trees, Spurs could make the most of the situation.
