Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth this summer and they will have to trigger his release clause in order to get the deal done.
According to a report from TBR Football, the striker has a £65 million release clause in his contract and only six clubs will be able to trigger it. Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are the ones who will be able to sign the player for a fixed fee this summer.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay that kind of money for the England international. Solanke was one of the best strikers in the Premier League this past season, scoring 21 goals in all competitions with 19 of those coming in the league.
There is no doubt that he could prove to be a quality addition to the Tottenham attack and he could fill the void left by Harry Kane. Tottenham chose not to replace Kane at the start of last season and they have missed his clinical presence and hold up play.
Solanke could solve that problem for Tottenham, but the asking price seems quite steep. There is no doubt that he is a proven performer in the English top flight and he is at the peak of his powers. He could hit the ground running and transform Spurs in the final third. However, the North London club have other areas they will need to strengthen this summer. Spending £65 million on the English forward is simply not affordable for a club with their resources.
It remains to be seen whether Bournemouth are prepared to sell the striker for a more reasonable price.
