Tottenham ‘leading the way’ for 27-yr-old PL star, they are ‘not the only team’ keen on him

By Saikat -

Tottenham have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent weeks and they are looking to sign the Brentford star David Raya before the summer transfer window closes.

According to a report from Relevo, Tottenham are now ‘leading the way’ to sign the 27-year-old Spanish goalkeeper but they are ‘not the only team’ after the Premier League star.

Raya has established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the league and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham.

The north London giants are in desperate need of goalkeeping reinforcements, especially after the way Hugo Lloris has performed this season. The Frenchman has been a shadow of his former self and he has cost his team valuable points with error-prone performances.

Lloris has a contract with Spurs until the summer of 2024 but he is simply not good enough to start for them every week and Tottenham should look to use him as a squad player next season.

Raya has the ability to become the first-choice keeper for a club like Tottenham and it would be the ideal step up in his career as well. According to the report from Relevo, the Spaniard has already informed Brentford of his desire to leave the club this summer and the Premier League side are prepared to sell their prized asset for a fee of around €40 million.

It will be interesting to see whether Tottenham are prepared to fork out that kind of money for him.

€40 million for a Premier League-proven player seems quite reasonable in today’s market and the Spaniard is at the peak of his powers right now. He should be able to justify the outlay next season.
