Tottenham keen on signing 23-year-old, Pochettino could throw a spanner in the works

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

According to a report from Football Insider, the player is intent on staying at Stamford Bridge and fighting for his place under Mauricio Pochettino. The report further states that the Argentine manager is not keen on selling the midfielder this summer and he is ready to block an exit.

Tottenham are not the only Premier League club looking to sign Gallagher and West Ham have reportedly joined the chase as well.

Gallagher has shown his quality in the Premier League during his loan spell at Crystal Palace and he could be a useful acquisition for Tottenham.

Spurs are lacking in depth in the central midfield and the Chelsea midfielder could be a quality long-term addition.

Gallagher struggled for regular game time at Stamford Bridge last season and if Tottenham can give him gametime assurances, the player might consider changing his stance regarding a summer transfer.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the London rivals to sell the player this summer.

Chelsea are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements after sanctioning the departures of Mateo Kovačić and N’Golo Kanté.

They are thought to be closing in on the findings of Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo. If Chelsea can get their signings across the line, the Blues might be more open to selling the 23-year-old midfielder.

Gallagher is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree on a reasonable fee.
