Juventus defender Gleison Bremer has been linked with a move to the Premier League with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur keen on him.
A report from Tuttosport claims that the Brazilian has been on the radar of Premier League clubs Tottenham and Manchester United. Both clubs have watched him ‘several times’ and it remains to be seen whether they follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal to sign him at the end of the season.
Tottenham could certainly use another quality central defender to complete their defensive unit. They have signed Radu Dragusin from Genoa in January, and it remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old can adapt to the Premier League quickly and establish himself as a key player for the club.
Apart from him, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are the only reliable defenders at the club. Tottenham will need at least four reliable central defenders in order to compete across all competitions and Bremer would be a superb acquisition for them.
The Brazilian is capable of operating in a back four as well as a back three. He can slot into a defensive left back role as well. His arrival will add tactical versatility to the side.
He has shown his quality in the Italian league with a big club like Juventus and he is certainly good enough to succeed in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will need to replace players like Harry Maguire and Bremer would be a superb acquisition for them as well. The Red Devils certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done and it remains to be seen whether they can beat Tottenham to his signature.
Whoever ends up finishing in the Champions League positions could have a major advantage in the transfer race. A player like Bremer will want to compete at the highest level and he might not be keen on joining the club without Champions League football.
