Tottenham is ‘the closest club’ to signing ‘very special’ 23-year-old

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on Nicolo Zaniolo despite the player joining Galatasaray recently.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Spurs before his move to Turkey and it seems that Spurs are now trying to sign him once again. They failed to agree on a deal with Roma in the past and it will be interesting to see if Spurs can convince Galatasaray now.

Zaniolo could be on the move this summer and correspondent Nevzat Dindar from Milliyet claims that Tottenham are ‘the closest club’ to signing the Italian midfielder.

Zaniolo is reportedly available for a fee of around €30-35 million this summer. Spurs certainly have the finances to pay that kind of money for him and they should look to get the deal done.

They have missed a specialist creator in the midfield ever since the departure of Christian Eriksen and Zaniolo would improve them significantly. He will help create more chances for players like Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison. His technical ability, vision and execution in the final third will help open up deep defences as well.

Spurs need his creativity and vision to transform their attack. Also, the Italian is versatile enough to operate as the number ten or a winger. He could be an asset for Ange Postecoglou next season.

Dindar from Milliyet claims that Galatasaray see him as a ‘very special’ player and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. The opportunity to play in England will certainly tempt the player and it would be a step up in his career.

The Turkish outfit will struggle to hold on to him if Spurs agree to pay near to their asking price this summer.
