Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with an ambitious move for the Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres.
The 25-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world right now and he has been in outstanding form since his move to Portugal at the start of the season.
The former Coventry City striker has 36 goals and 14 assists in all competitions and he has been linked with clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham United, as per HITC.
The striker has an £85 million release clause in his contract and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham can arrange the funds for his signing. It is no secret that they need to bring in a reliable goalscorer who can lead the line for them, but the Swedish international might be too expensive for them.
Tottenham will have to improve the other areas of their squad as well and spending a club-record fee on a striker might not be a wise decision. With that said, the 25 year old has the quality to transform Tottenham in the attack and turn them into genuine contenders next season.
Gyokeres is likely to be tempted if a Premier League club comes calling in the summer. Tottenham are pushing for Champions League qualification, and they will be an attractive destination for players if they manage to finish in the top four.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
