The 22-year-old has struggled for regular game time and he has started just twice in the Premier League this season. He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and moving away from the north London club would be ideal for him. If Brighton can provide him with ample first-team action during the second half of the season, it could be the ideal move for him.
The Seagulls are currently seventh in the league table and they are pushing for European qualification. They need more quality and depth in the side and the 22-year-old could prove to be a useful acquisition for them. He will add pace, flair and creativity from the flanks.
Gil was highly rated around Europe before his move to Tottenham and regular football at Brighton could help him re-capture that form and confidence.
It is evident that he does not have a future at Tottenham, and if he manages to impress during his loan spell, he might be able to secure a permanent exit from the club in the summer . Tottenham paid £21 million for him when they signed him and they will be looking to recoup most of that.
An impressive loan spell at Brighton will certainly help them sell him for a substantial amount of money.
