Tottenham Hotspur have been compiling two lists in preparation for the upcoming transfer window: one containing their wishlist of summer acquisitions and the other comprising potential outgoings.
Among the players who could depart at the end of the season, the name of Spurs’ defender Emerson Royal has surfaced.
The Lilywhites are prepared to offload the Brazilian international and will entertain offers for him over the summer.
According to sources speaking to Football Insider, the North London outfit has set a price tag of £20 million for Emerson, which roughly aligns with his current market value.
The club’s hierarchy will reportedly inform the full-back about his upcoming departure once the transfer window reopens, allowing him to seek new opportunities.
Emerson Royal has lost his place as first-choice right-back with Pedro Porro becoming a starter for Ange. He did play as a make-shift centre-back during the absence of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven earlier in the season.
He has also played left-back in the absence of Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies a couple of time but he had a nightmare in that position against Liverpool on Sunday.
Emerson was at fault for Spurs conceding their first goal when he failed to mark Mohamed Salah tightly, allowing him to lurk freely behind him. The Egyptian capitalised on this opportunity, heading home the cross from Cody Gakpo.
His poor first half performance even led to half-time altercation between him and Cristian Romero.
With still more than 2 years remaining on the Brazilian deal, this recent development indicates that Emerson is not part of the Lilywhites’ plans.
The former Real Betis defender has made 21 Premier League appearances this season, starting in 11 of them, accounting for only 31% of the games.
