Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Conor Gallagher in the summer in an attempt to reinforce their squad.
Despite being one of the best players for Chelsea in the 2023/24 season, the future of Conor Gallagher is not certain. The English international could be on the move in the upcoming transfer window and according to a report by GiveMeSport, Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on snapping him up.
Gallagher’s future was the talk of the town last summer as well. But, he ended up staying at the club. He worked his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans and ended up becoming one of the most important players for the Argentine manager.
The Chelsea academy graduate ended up featuring in 37 out of their 38 league games. He was involved in a total of 50 games across competitions and ended up contributing towards 16 goals (7 goals, 9 assists). Pochettino used him in different roles in the midfield and brought the best out of the 24-year-old.
Despite all that, Chelsea look set to cash in on him this summer. His sale will help his team comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules. Since Gallagher is a homegrown star, his departure will be recorded as a 100 per cent profit for the club which could be a huge boost for them as they look to balance their books.
In addition to that, he is entering the final year of his contract as well and Chelsea cannot afford to lose him on a free transfer next year.
Gallagher has showcased his exceptional abilities on the ball this past season, his passing range and even his ability in the final third with goals and assists. He can contribute defensively as well.
His exceptional performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on his signature as they feel he could be an ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.
With Giovani Lo Celso and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg likely to leave the North London club, Gallagher could come in as an ideal replacement given his versatility and his consistency for Chelsea.
