Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher.
According to a report from Football Insider, Spurs are now ‘in the hunt’ for the 23-year-old central midfielder and they will compete with West Ham United for his signature.
Apparently, Chelsea value the player at £40 million but the Hammers are hoping to get a deal done for £30 million.
West Ham recently sanctioned the departure of Declan Rice and they will look to replace him adequately this summer.
Gallagher struggled for regular game time at Stamford Bridge, and he could be the ideal acquisition for West Ham and Tottenham.
Tottenham need to bring in midfield reinforcements as well, especially if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves the club. The Denmark international has been heavily linked with a summer move in recent weeks.
Gallagher will hope to play regular first-team football and the opportunity to join clubs like Tottenham and West Ham could prove to be difficult to turn down.
Chelsea are ready to sanction his departure if their asking price is met and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are ready to shell out £40 million for the player.
The 23-year-old is still quite young, and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. He could end up justifying the investment in the long run.
Gallagher was outstanding during his loan spell at Crystal Palace and he has the ability to be a key player for Tottenham as well. He will add defensive cover and work rate to the Spurs midfield next season.
