Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on signing the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher this month.
A report from Football Insider claims that the North London club are in ‘daily dialogue’ over a potential deal for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Chelsea are open to selling the player of this month if their valuation of £45-50 million is met.
Spurs have already signed Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin to improve their defence and attack. They are hoping to bring in a quality central midfielder now.
The likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr are away on international duty and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a January exit.
They need to bring in someone like Gallagher who will add defensive cover, pressing ability and drive in the middle of the park.
Gallagher is well-settled in the Premier League and he could make an immediate impact at Tottenham. His style of play should be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system as well.
Apart from this quality as a player, Gallagher will add leadership qualities to the Spurs dressing room as well. He has already captained Chelsea multiple times this season.
The player is likely to improve with coaching and experience and he could develop into a key player for Tottenham in the near future.
Although the reported asking price seems like a premium right now, Gallagher has the ability to justify the investment in the coming seasons.
