Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning for a future without Son Heung-min and they are lining up potential replacements for the South Korean international.
According to a report via Football London, they have added the name of Nico Williams to the shortlist. The 21-year-old has been an excellent performer for Athletic Club Bilbao this season and his performances have attracted the attention of London rivals Arsenal.
Premier League giants Liverpool are keeping tabs on the Spaniard as well.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to follow up on their interest with an offer to sign the player at the end of the season. Williams is versatile enough to operate on either flank and he will add explosive pace and trickery in the final third. The 21-year-old will help break down deep defences with his dribbling ability and he will chip in with goals from the wide areas as well.
Son has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club from but the South Korean international is in his 30s now. Tottenham need to plan his succession properly and a player like Williams could prove to be shrewd investment. The Spaniard is likely to improve with coaching and experience, and he has all the tools to develop into a top class Premier League winger
Apparently, the winger has a €50 million release clause in his contract and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay up. Williams has picked up five goals and 10 assists in all competitions decision and his numbers are likely to improve in a better team.
Meanwhile, Arsenal could use a versatile winger like him as well. His signing will allow Mikel Arteta to rotate players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli more often.
