Tottenham hunt for a defender takes them to Italy and Sassuolo

By Bruce Grove -

Despite having five centre backs to choose from, Tottenham remains in the market for a new defender, according to 90Min.

The Lilywhites have been looking around for a new centre back and they even have a budget for the player they want to add to their side.

90Min exclusively reports that the Lilywhites have identified Sassuolo’s Gian Marco Ferrari as a top transfer target.

The 28-year-old is a key member of the impressive Italian side that is threatening to break into the top four this season.

Spurs reportedly want a defender in the region of £15m and that makes Ferrari an ideal player for them.

This season has been a fine one for him on an individual level as he has played all their 9 league games in the campaign.

His contribution is one of the reasons why they are third in Serie A at this point of the season.

Spurs already have Toby Alderweireld, Joe Rodon, Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga and Davinson Sanchez.

But the Lilywhites are looking to win a trophy among the four competitions that they are competing in this season, and that will require greater squad depth.
