Spurs hopes of signing Philippe Coutinho take a favourable twist

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has been given the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho in the summer after Bayern Munich announced that they would not be taking the option of making his loan deal permanent, reports FootballInsider247.

The midfielder has been on loan at the German side this season, but he hasn’t convinced them enough to make his current deal permanent.

He will now have to return to Barcelona at the end of this season, however, the Catalans have given up on him and they are keen to get him off their books.

A recent report claims that Barcelona is ready to sell him off permanently or send him to another team on loan again.

This development has now opened the door for Jose Mourinho to get at least a temporary replacement for Christian Eriksen.

Since Erikson joined Inter Milan in the last transfer window, Spurs have struggled for creativity, and Mourinho is expected to sign a new creative midfielder.

Tottenham did previously get close to signing Coutinho but Daniel Levy did what he does best and scuppered all hope of a deal but that does not mean it is dead in the water for eternity.

Philippe Coutinho would be the perfect signing for Spurs in many ways because he has already played and succeeded in the Premier League so he would come with valuable experience and might need less time to adapt.

Also, because the Lilywhites won’t have so much money to spend in the summer, getting Coutinho in on loan would be a great deal.

The reason Bayern never decided on a permanent move was his wage demands. What makes you think we could compete?

A one year loan would be perfect. Even a £10m fee is ok by me. His wages are a stumbling point.

Would love it to happen but I’m sure lots of other teams are thinking the same thing.
Would very much improve our team ,let’s hope Maureen can persuade him and levy stops saving a few quid for class.
