Tottenham have ‘sent their scouts several times’ to monitor 23-year-old ace

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Denmark midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

The midfielder has a contract with Italian club Lecce until the summer of 2024 and they could look to sell him at the end of the season if he does not sign an extension with them.

The 23-year-old will be available on a free transfer at the end of next season and Lecce will be hoping to recoup some money for him in the summer.

As per Calciomercato, the defensive midfielder has caught the attention of other European clubs like Borussia Dortmund with his performances and the likes of Roma and Napoli are thought to be keen on him as well. Spurs have ‘sent their scouts several times’ this season.  It remains to be seen whether they can beat the competition and secure his signature in the coming months.

Antonio Conte could certainly use more depth in his midfield and the 23-year-old could be a quality long-term investment.

The opportunity to unite with his compatriot Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg at the London club could be an attractive option for the player and he will be hoping to test himself at a higher level in the Premier League.

Apart from his ability to break up the play and win the ball back from the opposition, the midfielder will add some creativity in the middle of the park as well. Hjulmand has 5 assists to his name across all competitions. Furthermore, the Lecce captain will add leadership qualities to the dressing room as well.

Given the fact that he would have just one year left on his deal at the end of the season, the player could be signed for a reasonable price and Tottenham should look to get the deal done.
