Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club this summer and they are looking at potential replacements for him.
A report from the Telegraph claims that the midfielder is the target for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and clubs in the Bundesliga are keeping tabs on him as well.
The report further states that Spurs have earmarked the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as a potential target.
The 23-year-old is ‘in their sights’ as Ange Postecoglou looks to rebuild his squad ahead of the new season.
Apparently, the midfielder could cost around £50 million in the current market and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to spend that kind of money on him.
Gallagher has struggled for regular game time at Chelsea, and a move to Tottenham could be ideal for him if they are willing to provide him with gametime assurances.
The departure of Hojbjerg will certainly leave a void in the middle of the park and Tottenham must look to replace him adequately.
The 27-year-old Denmark international has been a key player for them since joining the club from Southampton.
Gallagher has proven his quality in the Premier League in the past when he was on loan at Crystal Palace, and he is certainly good enough to be a regular starter for Tottenham.
However, the asking price could be a bit of a problem and it is fair to assume that Chelsea will have to lower their demands in order for the move to go through.
