Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in recent months and they have now been handed a boost in their pursuit of the English midfielder.
A report from Football Insider claims that Chelsea are now prepared to sell the midfielder against the wishes of manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham are long-term admirers of the 24-year-old and he should prove to be a quality acquisition for them. Gallagher has proven himself to be a reliable performer for Chelsea this season and he has captained them a few times as well.
He will add work rate, physicality and pressing ability in the middle middle of the park. Gallagher seems like the ideal fit for Tottenham’s current style of football, and he could improve them immensely.
The midfielder is still far from his peak and he is likely to improve further. There is no doubt that he could be a key for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can secure an agreement with Chelsea in the coming months. The Blues recently recorded losses of around £90 million in their 2022–23 accounts and they are now looking to sell Gallagher in order to balance the books. Chelsea are under pressure to comply with the financial regulations.
Spurs held talks to sign the midfield during the January window as well and they will hope to get the deal across the line in the summer now.
