Tottenham forward could leave in January just months after signing for Spurs

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Corriere Dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Italian club Bologna are interested in signing Alejo Veliz on loan from Tottenham in January.

Tottenham secured the services of Veliz from Rosario Central for a reported fee of £13 million back in the summer.

The 20-year-old South American is considered as a highly rated young striker which is why Spurs secured his services as an investment for the future.

But the injuries to the likes of Brennan Johnson, Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic and now Richarlison has allowed the young Argentinian to get several opportunities with the first team already.

He has made 3 appearances for the first team, all of them from the bench. He has also made two appearances for the U21s, and scored his first goal for the club against Peterborough in the EFL Trophy last week.

He is starting to attract interest from other clubs with Bologna said to be one of the clubs interested in signing him in January.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, the Italian side are keen on bolstering their attack and have identified Veliz as one of the targets.

They were one of the clubs interested in signing the 20-year-old in the summer but lost out to Spurs but want to now secure his services on a temporary bases. It is now being reported that Bologna are considering making a loan move for him in the upcoming transfer window.

TBH Says:

Spurs have plenty of options in attack but are going through an injury crisis at the moment.

Richarlison underwent a pelvic surgery and is expected to back in a few weeks but he has so far been struggling in Tottenham colours. Meanwhile, Ivan Perisic is potentially out for the rest of the season while Manor Solomon is also sidelined with a long-term injury.

This leaves Spurs with Johnson, Son, and Kulusevski as the current attacking options. These injuries have offered Veliz an opportunity to gain first-team experience with Spurs.

Tottenham’s decision regarding Veliz’s potential loan move will depend on their priorities and considerations for the January transfer window.

If Spurs intend to sign another attack in January, then a loan move could make sense for Veliz. Whether Ange is keen on loaning him out or not remains to be seen.
