Tottenham first-team ace has ‘verbal agreement in place’, set to leave in January

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been linked with the move away from the club for months now.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper was expected to move on during the summer transfer window, but he ended up staying at the north London club. The French international has struggled for gametime and he is now the third-choice goalkeeper at the club behind Guglielmo Vicario and Fraser Forster.

He needs to leave the club in order to play regularly and it seems that MLS outfit LAFC are prepared to provide him with an exit route in January.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the player has reached an agreement with the MLS club and he will leave permanently next month.

The goalkeeper has a ‘verbal agreement in place’ with his new club and he will sign a one-year contract with them. Documents are expected to be exchanged soon.

Lloris has been an exceptional servant for Tottenham since joining the club but this is the right time for the two parties to go their separate ways. The Frenchman has regressed massively and he cost Spurs valuable points last season.

Vicario was signed as his replacement and the Italian has done a splendid job for the Londoners so far.

A move to MLS at this stage of his career would be ideal for Lloris and it could prolong his career.

As for Tottenham, they will be able to get his substantial wages off their books and allocate them towards a new signing in January.
