Tottenham face competition from Arsenal for Champion League winner

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham will have to beat Arsenal to the signing of Jerome Boateng if they are serious about signing the German.

The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for the defender who is currently running down his contract at the German side.

Boateng has been one of the top defenders in Europe for several years now and he helped the Germans win another Champions League last season.

Sports Bild claims that he is refusing to sign a new contract and that has opened the door for another team to swoop in and sign him in the next transfer window.

The report reckons that Jose Mourinho is studying the defender’s situation at the club and the Special One may make the move for him when the transfer window reopens again.

Spurs were desperate to sign a top defender in the last transfer window. They wanted to sign Milan Skriniar, but they ended up with Joe Rodon.

They might feel that they have enough options in that position, but signing Boateng on a free transfer would be a no-brainer.

Arsenal is also rebuilding their team and the report claims that although they have signed Gabriel Magalhaes, they still want Boateng.

Yeah, but when you look at how much they’ve spent, they ought to be that good.

I can’t see Levy offering him enough to tempt him, particularly considering his age.Alaba would be preferable, but although younger too expensive.

I remember at the time some wags were saying we had signed the wrong Boateng.
Worth a punt he might teach Sanchez a thing or two

Tomorrows travels to the Hawthorns against under pressure Bilic Baggies is a must win. A draw is better than nothing but in reality the Albion match and and our next 3 fixtures are realistically must wins for Spurs to make a serious statement of intent in the title race.

For want of repetition naturally I want Spurs to end the “1961 tag” but convinced that having made 4 very astute purchases (Mendy, Thiago Silva, Ziach and Timo Werner), after their latest victory against Sheff Utd, of all the London teams IMO Chelsea managed by switched on Lampard are best of all well equipped to win the PL title this season or be Liverpool and Man Ciy’s closest challengers. Whilst money does not guarantee success it has been spelt well!

Spurs ladies. 64% pass accuracy. They won’t need telling they gotta do better than that. (Reading only 65%) god knows what the/our average is. Got a point
