Tottenham eyes Serie A defender as revamp of its backline continues

By Eddie Razo -

This summer, Tottenham Hotspur revamped its backline, adding Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal; however, the north London-based club is far from done fixing its defense for new manager Nuno Espírito Santo.

According to Calciomercato, Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici is interested in bringing AS Roma central defender Roger Ibañez. The report doesn’t add further details on what the English club is willing to offer or what the Italian side would want for the 22-year-old.

However, it does state that Ibañez would like the opportunity to play for Spurs should the opportunity present itself. The defender has made 57 appearances for the capital club, registering two goals and two assists for Roma.

Furthermore, the Brazil international is under contract until 2025, so Roma has all the leverage in potential discussions. When it comes to a possible asking price, it could cost £22-million per Transfermarkt; nonetheless, a good 2021-22 season with the Serie A side and that price could be going up.

Romero is great at the tappity tap passing along the back line, but when it comes to putting him under pressure he is nowhere to be seen. At least from what I have seen of him anyway so far in Spurs shirt.

Yeah agree mate ,still so much to improve but a more postitive willing attitude in the camp might cheer the over payed miserable bunch out. A decent performance with spirit and fight with a win at the weekend will very much help and appease the unhappy fanbase ,who are about to turn very ugly.
I wont hold my breath…

Personally, I feel like there is something to build on after the performance last night, signs of a coming together amongst the players, which gives me hope for the weekend.

I am going to make a bold prediction here but I don’t think this will happen.
