Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Manchester United defender Harry Maguire.
The 30-year-old is expected to leave Manchester United in the summer in search of regular playing time and Tottenham could provide him with their platform as per Times.
The north London club need to add more depth to their defence and Maguire could prove to be an upgrade on players like Eric Dier, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga.
The 30-year-old has been quite underwhelming for Manchester United but he could be a useful player for Tottenham if he manages to regain his confidence and sharpness. He is not a key starter for Erik ten Hag anymore, and it makes sense for him to move on.
Tottenham will have to strengthen defensively and they need to bring in a reliable partner for Cristian Romero. Although they should look to aim higher, Maguire could be a useful acquisition for a reasonable price. Given his stature at Manchester United, the Red Devils are unlikely to be able to sell him for substantial money this summer and Tottenham should look to snap him up on a bargain.
The 30-year-old has considerable Premier League experience and he should be able to settle in and make an immediate impact at the London club. He will be desperate to get back to his best and his hunger to succeed could prove to be a bonus for Tottenham.
However, the defender earns around £190K per week at Manchester United and Tottenham are unlikely to be able to afford his wages. He might have to take a pay cut in order for the move to go through.
