Report: Tottenham eyeing move for striker with 28 goals last season

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for the upcoming transfer window to bolster their squad for the next season.

The primary target for Spurs this summer is a centre-forward to enhance their attacking options under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Among the names linked with a move to North London is VfB Stuttgart’s star striker, Serhou Guirassy.

Football Insider reports that Spurs could look to sign the Bundesliga striker.

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the Guinea international could be a valuable addition to the Lilywhites.

Guirassy, who is contracted with Stuttgart until June 2026, joined the German club last summer from Stade Rennais for a fee of a mere €9 million.

His stellar performance in the recently concluded season has caught the attention of several top clubs.

The 28-year-old forward has been outstanding, scoring 28 goals in 28 league appearances, making him one of the top scorers not only in the Bundesliga but also across Europe’s Big 5 leagues.

He trails only Harry Kane and surpasses renowned attackers like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Guirassy’s contract includes a £17.5 million release clause, making him an attractive option for Tottenham given his exceptional value for money.

Despite Spurs’ interest and financial capability to secure his signature, convincing Guirassy to join might prove challenging.

Stuttgart’s second-place finish in the Bundesliga means they will play in the Champions League next season, which is a significant draw for Guirassy.

In contrast, Tottenham finished fifth in the Premier League, securing only a Europa League spot.

While Guirassy might be tempted to stay in Germany, the opportunity to showcase his talent in the Premier League could entice him to make the move to Spurs, offering a new stage for his impressive goal-scoring abilities.
