According to Football London, Tottenham are still interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in January and could try to work out an ‘incredible swap deal’ to secure his services.
The North London club’s interest in Gallagher is common knowledge. They tried to sign him in the summer but failed after Chelsea decided against selling him at that time.
But Spurs have not given up in their their pursuit of the young midfielder. As per the recent report from The Athletic, if thallagher becomes available in January, the North London club will be inclined to make another attempt to complete the deal.
Amidst Tottenham’s midfield concerns due to absences at the AFCON, including Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr, interest in bolstering their squad has intensified.
Meanwhile, Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou and is increasingly linked with a move away in January with the like of Juventus strongly linked.
The emerging talks of a swap deal between Tottenham and Chelsea involve Hojbjerg and Gallagher. Football London’s report suggests that Hojbjerg’s potential exit and the necessity for a midfield replacement at Spurs could pave the way for negotiations between the two London clubs.
Chelsea could do with the experience of Hojbjerg in their otherwise young team but whether he is someone who fits into the style of Pochettino remains to be seen.
