Tottenham do not need players that are scared of challenging Harry Kane

By Bruce Grove -

One big issue that Spurs want to solve this summer is signing a backup striker for Harry Kane.

The Lilywhites have been relying on the Englishman for a while now, but injuries have started mounting up and he needs support.

When he has been sidelined the club almost never score goals and Jose Mourinho wants to avoid a repeat of that this season.

The special one has identified a number of striker targets in this transfer window and one of them is apparently Crystal Palace flop, Alexander Sorloth.

Sorloth struggled in his first campaign in England for Palace and he was loaned out to Trabzonspor in the Turkish top flight last season.

He scored 33 goals in all competition and he is now interesting Tottenham. However, Turkish media outlet Fanatik is claiming that the striker doesn’t want to join Mourinho at the Tottenham Stadium.

This is because he thinks that he is better than a backup striker to Kane.

Kane will remain Spurs’ first choice no matter who they sign and Sorloth believes that he will be better off playing for another team than sitting on the bench in north London.

That is fine, Spurs should not be looking to sign any player that is afraid of competition. Yes, Kane is world-class and would be difficult to dislodge but it would not be impossible.

It is all about attitude and wanting an easy ride is simply not the right attitude and that is what Sorloth appears to want.

This back up striker malarkey is a load of rubbish. Has Thomas Mueller left Bayern because he can’t get a game because of Levandowski. Is Jesus throwing the towel in at City because Aguero won’t tolerate another striker.

Garbage. Stop repeating this myth. It’s like that other myth that continually rears it’s head that someday Gareth Bale will return to Tottenham. Yeah right.

Sooner or later Harry’s ankle is going to go south so we desperately need a 2nd striker. I don’t think we can say back-up striker any more because of his injuries added to the amount of games we’ve got. Come on Levy you’ve done well so far so please don’t spoil it by bringing in some donkey on the verge of a retirement home.

“Spurs should not be looking to sign any player that is afraid of competition.”

What, like Bale, according to a recent guest blogging R Madrid fan?

Too right. 👍🏾
My shout would be Patson Daka, no matter if Frédéric Kanoute (his agent) has said he’s not leaving RB Salzburg, if Spurs offer enough, they’ll sell & Kanoute will backtrack.
