Tottenham could now miss out on 23-year-old January target because of Levy

By Saikat -

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.

The 23-year-old was expected to leave the Blues at the start of the season, but he ended up staying. It seems that a move could be on the cards during the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the player but a report from Football Insider claims that Chelsea will block any approach from their North London rivals.

They do not want to sell the player to Tottenham because of Daniel Levy. Chelsea have a strained relationship with the Tottenham Chairman and they are not prepared to do business with him.

Gallagher would have been a quality acquisition for the North London side and Tottenham need someone like him at their disposal. Missing out on him will certainly come as a blow for Tottenham.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with the move away from the club and Spurs will need to replace him adequately if he decides to move on in January. Gallagher would have been the ideal replacement.

The 23-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League, and he could have made an immediate impact. In addition to that, his high-energy, pressing game would have been the ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to try their luck with a concrete proposal to sign him next month.
