Tottenham could move for 27-year-old PL ace in January, Johan Lange a big fan

By Saikat -

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been linked to the move away from the club in recent weeks.

He has started just one game for Manchester City this season in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United. The 27-year-old needs to play more often at this stage of his career and a move away in January could be ideal for him.

Phillips is aware of the fact that he needs to play more often in order to cement his place in England’s starting lineup ahead of the European championship next summer. The defensive midfielder recently started twice for England in wins over Scotland and Italy. Phillips must look to play more often in order to keep himself in Garreth Southgate’s plans.

A report from the Telegraph claims he could be on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur in January if the North London outfit decide to cash in on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Apparently, Tottenham’s new technical director Johan Lange is a big fan of the Manchester City midfielder.

The 27-year-old was one of the best defensive midfielders in the league during his time at Leeds United, and he could be a key player for Tottenham if he manages to recapture that form. Regular football at the London club could help him get back to his best once again. He could be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s free-flowing attacking football as well.

His arrival will allow Tottenham to operate with more freedom and his ability to win the ball high up the pitch will help set up counter-attacking opportunities as well. He is used to playing in a high-pressing attacking system, having worked with Marcelo Bielsa, and he could be a good fit for Tottenham.
