According to a new report, Tottenham Hotspur may be able to sign Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin for a discounted fee.
Hugo Lloris has been a great servant to Spurs since his arrival over ten years ago, but he is now 36, and with age, errors have begun to creep into his game much more frequently.
His performances this season have been quite poor in particular with him being responsible for a number of goals. He was at fault for both the goals Spurs conceded in their defeat to Newcastle earlier in the season and he was at fault once again for Villa’s opener.
He has now made the most errors leading to goals this season and has come under heavy criticism from fans and pundits.
It has been reported previously that Spurs are now looking at options for a long-term replacement for the French goalkeeper with the likes of Everton’s Jordan Pickford, Leeds United’s Illan Meslier, and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak all being linked with Spurs.
And now according to a report from Express, after their defeat to Villa, the club’s attention has once again turned to find a replacement for Lloris and they have identified Anatoliy Trubin as a potential candidate.
At only 21 years old, the youngster will be able to hold down the spot for many years to come, and if Spurs make the move quickly, Fabio Paratici could get a ‘cheap deal’, given that he will be entering the final year of his contract next season.
Despite his young age, the 6 foot 5 giant has already made 74 appearances for Shakhtar, 14 of which have been in the Champions League, and he has impressed significantly, keeping 30 clean sheets in that time.
