Tottenham are eyeing a move to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire in the January transfer window according to Spanish publication Fichajes.
Maguire has been one of the defenders linked with a move to Spurs since summer.
Ange Postecoglou made him very clear that he wants to bolster his defense even after signing the likes of Micky van de Ven and youngster Ashley Phillips.
Meanwhile they have gotten rid of a number of central defenders either on a loan deal or a permanent move. The likes of Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga were all moved in the summer.
This has left them short of central defenders and as per the report Spurs want to sign another centre-back in the January transfer window, making Maguire one of the potential targets.
He will not cost more than £30m since West Ham already had a bid of that amount accepted by United who are desperate to get rid of him.
Harry Maguire joined Manchester United in 2019 for a record fee of £80 million, making him the most expensive defender in the world at that time.
However, his tenure at the club has been marked by disappointment, with the Englishman failing to meet the expectations that came with his high price tag.
Under manager Erik ten Hag, Maguire has fallen down the pecking order, even losing the captaincy earlier this month to Bruno Fernandes.
TBH Says:
Maguire may not be the defender we need right now. His poor form and lack of confidence could end up hurting the rock solid defense Ange has built with Romero and Micky Van de Ven.
Romero looks like an unleashed monster since assuming his new role of a leader under Ange and has formed a formidable partnership at the back.
There is no doubt that Spurs do need further reinforcements but could there be better options in the market?
