Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Conor Gallagher from Chelsea.
The 24-year-old central midfielder has been linked with the move to the north London club for months and it appears that they are ready to make their move for him in the summer.
According to a report from HITC, Tottenham will launch a bid for the England international as soon as the season is over this weekend.
Gallagher has been in outstanding form for Chelsea, scoring seven goals and picking up nine assists in all competitions. He has established himself as an indispensable asset for the Blues, but Chelsea could be under pressure to sell him at the end of the season.
He will enter the final year of his contract with Chelsea in the summer and the Blues will not want to lose him on a free next year. It makes sense for them to sell him this summer and Tottenham are hoping to take advantage of the situation.
They need to bring in a quality central defender in the coming months, and Gallagher would be a quality acquisition. The 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder will add work-rate, pressing ability, creativity and drive to the Spurs midfield.
He is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. He could develop into a key player for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
If the north London club can secure an agreement with Chelsea over the reasonable price, the transfer could look like a master stroke in the long run. Gallagher is well settled in English football and he is likely to make an instant impact at Tottenham.
